Chemical peel treatments are another technique Brandon Essentials Spa uses to improve your skin’s appearance. Basically, with this method a chemical is applied to the skin that makes it dry and tight. This “dry and tight” skin then flakes or peels off and the new skin is smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.
Chemical peels reduce fine lines on the exterior part of your eyes or around your mouth. These facial treatments can work on wrinkles caused by sun damage or aging and can improve the look of mild acne scarring. We’ve watched the procedure reduce age spots, fade freckles, and even handle the dark patches that stem from pregnancy or taking birth control pills. Even areas of sun damage often improve after a chemical peel facial.
After a chemical peel, your skin will be more sensitive to the sun’s rays. This condition is only temporary, but after a chemical peel you should wear sunscreen every day, for at least a week. The product you choose should list “broad-spectrum” on the label, which means it protects against both UVA and UVB rays. You also will need to select protection above SPF 30. Either way, following a chemical peel you will want to limit your time in the sun, especially around midday.
We strongly urge you to consult your dermatologist to determine the depth of the peel that is right for you. If you do not have a dermatologist, our licensed and trained estheticians can aid you in selecting a peel that will work best for you, your goals, and your skin type
